Mt Vernon Bach Stradivarius This is a desirable vintage model and a really good all-purpose horn, although I also like it for jazz because of its timbre flexibility. It just feels so very good to play this trumpet! Bend the pitches, whisper in breathy tones, or sing in full-voiced pitch-perfect glory. This instrument will respond to your command. The sound is just beautiful! This horn is probably from 1963 and has a ML bore. There are no real dents, but the lacquer is missing from much of the trumpet and there is some pitting of the brass on and around the valve casing. The valves are fabulous—buttery smooth and quick. You can definitely find more aesthetically perfect Strads than this—they are online if you look—but I took this one into the gallery because of its special resonance. I recommend that rather than ordering this one blindly, you come by and play it in the shop. I am thinking of making a custom valve guard for it. If I do, I’ll include it with the trumpet. An original Bach case is also available and included in the price.
